The past few months I usually take one day a week to head over to StartUptown and work from there. StartUptown is a co-working space where many Pittsburgh technology-based startups have their offices. StartUptown says that they are “An urban campus/incubator for technology and social innovation — StartUptown is a nonprofit organization that provides collaborative work and living space for early-stage entrepreneurs and their companies at below market rates. Its location is the underserved community of Uptown, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.”

There are a few reasons I go over there to work. The first is just to get out of my apartment. When you work from the same place day after day it can get boring, exhausting and sometime it is hard to get work done from the same place so getting out of my normal office is always good. Second it is a great place to work from and has a really great atmosphere. It is more or less an open office where you can really feel comfortable. Check out my photos below to see what I mean.

Third it is great to be around startups and people who work in the technology and internet industry. There are quite a few companies who work out of StartUptown. I’m not going to list all of them, but some of them are No Wait, CloudFab, Hack Pittsburgh, and Group16.

If you are a small startup in the Pittsburgh area you should definitely check out StartUpTown.
